The Real World: Hollywood will be the twentieth season of MTV's popular reality television series The Real World, which focuses on seven diverse strangers living together for several months in a different city each season, as cameras follow their lives and interpersonal relationships. It is scheduled to premiere in 2008.
According to MTV, this season of The Real World will be the first to incorporate environmentally friendly household and lifestyle choices, including a solar-heated swimming pool, energy star appliances, bamboo flooring, recycled glass counters, some sustainable furniture, and energy efficient lighting.
This season is the first in which a cast member was chosen by the fans via a multistage online poll from a pool of 20,000 applicants. The seventh cast member as voted by the fans was PretyBoy (Greg Halstead) a 20 year old model.

MTV is going green with the 20th season of The Real World by housing the next cast in an energy-efficient and sustainable home in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Solar energy solutions, bamboo flooring, recycled glass counters, sustainable furniture and recycled vintage décor, energy star appliances, a solar-heated swimming pool and energy-efficient lighting are some of the environment-friendly features that make up the house.
Production practices have also been modified in accordance with the show's efforts. Bunim-Murray Productions are looking to make production and The Real World: Hollywood carbon-neutral by applying carbon-reducing methods. They will also regularly add eco-friendly elements throughout production, including products seen with the cast and in the house.
The network is hoping to set an example for the show's viewers by introducing today's youth to the different ways they can integrate environmentally-friendly household objects and make eco-friendly lifestyle choices into their lives.
“Our environment is changing, and young people are realizing that the choices they make in their daily lives can affect the future of the world they live in,” MTV President Christina Norman said. “The Real World has a longstanding history of tackling the issues facing each generation of MTV viewers – and this season, we wanted to empower our audience by incorporating real, actionable solutions that they can take to make their own homes environmentally-friendly.”
Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, whose 13th district includes the production's location, said, “The combination of reality-TV excitement with strong ecological practices is a natural fit for Hollywood, the world's capital of entertainment and the place to look for the future of building a sustainable city.”
Aside from being the first The Real World edition to go green, the 20th season of the long-running reality series will also include the first-ever viewer-selected housemate, “Pretyboy” from Daytona Beach, Florida. “Pretyboy” received more than 2.9 million votes from the three-month-long online voting. Casting for the other six cast members is underway.
The Real World: Hollywood will commence shooting in the fall and air in sometime in the first quarter of 2008.
